Summer Edition
The Sometimes Orchestra, a collective of musicians and artists I began as a side project 2 years ago will be performing our score to the 1926 silent film The Adventures of Prince Achmed in Lisbon on July 1st as a part of the ever amazing Radia Lx International Festival of Radio Art. The Goethe Institute in Lisbon are our gracious hosts and are also helping to sponsor the live performance. My collaborators on this project are a seriously interesting and talented group of performers. My colleague Ron Coulter is a wonderful percussionist and improvisor who has worked closely with me on developing new ideas for this work. Spanish sound and radio artist Durán Vázquez will be joining us, adding electronic textures and ambient scapes. The film score will also feature a radio broadcast performance by Ricardo Reis. Ricardo will be creating a "new" track by reacting, reading and adding voice to the otherwise silent sub-titles. This variation on the evening's performance will be aired live on Radio Zero 99.00 FM and also streamed from their site.
Spring Exhibition: Antarctic Dreams LISTEN
Antarctic Dreams is a collaboration between myself and photographer Gary Kolb. The show opened on April 2nd, 2010 at SIUC's University Museum and featured several of my sound sculptures along with Gary's images. The show was a wonderful opportunity to exhibit my work locally in Southern Illinois. Take a look and listen inside.
